Product Design and Development Director
Responsibilities
- establish strategy for expanding traditional markets, target new market segments
- Work closely with internal departments and suppliers to design and develop new product meeting business needs and undertake product branding and re-branding projects
- Design and possess extensive knowledge of producing customised mouldings and prototype to meet product specifications and actively engage in new product design and development process
- Monitor project schedule, cost control and development budget
- Ensure compliance to respective health, safety and environmental protection requirements and certificates e.g. European GS, UL, CE, RoHS, CB, BPS, etc.
- Stay abreast of market and technological trends and design products which meet customer needs
- conduct market research and regularly introduce new products and business solutions to stimulate market demand and support business growth
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- minimum 10+ years experience in product design and development of household appliances, cookware, toiletries. At least 5 years’ working experience in the Mainland China market in the related field.
- a proven track record of successful product design and development. Design patent holders will be a definite advantage.
- tertiary level education in Electronics / Electrical, or Engineering disciplines or with substantial working experience in the field.
- excellent understanding of business operation and the supply chain situation in China and countries where product parts are sourced.
- extensive knowledge of all the relevant health, safety and environmental protection requirements and certificates required in the production of the household implements, cookware, etc.
- good interpersonal and negotiation skills and management skills.
- comprehensive understanding of the production process.
- ability to communicate in fluent written and oral Mandarin is essential. Good command of Cantonese and English would be a definite advantage.
Salary and conditions of service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract and any bonus will be based on result-oriented appraisal.
